University of Miami

Hey AIESEC Innsbruck Members,

Finally I manage to post here in our blog about my year abroad at the University of Miami which is, I have to admit, the first blog entry of my life - so here we go.

The whole experience over here in Florida really leaves you speachless! We've got sommer the whole year round, the campus looks like a park and you have so many cool things to do that you wouldn't be bored one time in 10 years without doing anyting for your study. The first week here we had integration events almost 24/7 so that you know at least a 100 people to go out and make party afterwards.

Although there were some obstacles to take (eg. computer services that knock off your whole operating system and delete all your data right after having installed MS Office) Manfred (also from Innsbruck) and me are really enjoying the whole organization and our courses are really good. Although causing a lot of study work for us, the higher level courses equip you with very professional state of the art knowledge about business and economics.

On the weekends we go out either to the clubs of South Beach (which look like the ones in MTV videos) or to one of the house parties which are very common over here and incredibly fun (at least until the police comes which is also standard here). On the picture you see as having a barbecue at the beach what you can do basicly every day here :D.

The upcoming weekend I am going to a big music festival in New Orleans with a few friends to see BRMC (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) and RATM (Rage Against The Machine) - again awesome, isn't it?

By the way, Football is the single most important thing here at the UM as you can see at the photo beneath.

Unfortunately the next AIESEC commitee is a couple of hours away in Orlando, but mabe I can manage to see them at any event....

Finally, I hope to hear from you soon and will blog here again shortly. I am looking forward to get to know the new members you are recruiting right now and maybe see you around Christmas time for a Glühwein in front of the Golden Roof!

Yours truly,

Stefan

Post holidays mood...

After 7 weeks of holidays I’ve returned back to Innsbruck....
I wasn’t even aware how much I needed this relaxation time, after a very intense LCP experience and a lot of stretching.

If I would need to I describe my holidays in a few words, it would be “the chill out time”. It was just amazing not to think of AIESEC for all this time… and now I really do need to catch up with all the changes…

The highlights of my holidays were the 25th wedding anniversary of my parents, together
with seeing all of my friends, who I haven’t seen for a LONG time (some of them even 1 year)… Belgrade hosted many festivals this summer, beer fest, qualifications for the Davis Cup (Serbian tennis delegation qualified themselves for the Davis Cup and won matches against Australia – under the motto "one country against the whole continent" :-) ) etc etc etc…

I’ve also spent almost 2 weeks on Thassos… a beautiful island, which I’ve visited 4 years ago…. It was nice to be at home… to be careless again… and to realize again how much I love Belgrade and my country…

And now, after all this time,
I’ve returned to Innsbruck (my second home at the moment)… and it was raining (of course)… everything seemed so dull… and the biggest reason for this mood is that my Supergirls are not here… Doris and Rosi are on ERASMUS in Russia and Sabine in Sweden on her CEED… Its weird how I sometimes tend to associate towns with people…and now when these people are not here then the town loses a bit of that special flavour it used to have… as a passionate cook, I would describe it, like eating a favourite meal without some spices which add that extra especial taste…

Girls, I’m missing you BIG time! And I wish you all the happiness in this world!!!!

Yours,
Sonja
