Study tour or no study tour - that's the question

IC is over. And in the end I found another thing to complain about *yippiiii*

When I subscribed for IC, I had the chance to as well subscribe for a post-IC studytour (31.08. + 01.09.). Of course I wanted to use the chance to see more of the country, either going to Cappadocia or choosing the Blue Aegeon tour. Finally I've chosen the blue Aegeon Tour, including a trip to Ephesus, Virgin Mary's house, an ancient theater etc etc.

During the whole conference it was said that we should contact the responsible of the study tour for further details. I tried 4 days long and guess what ... the person was never there. And it's even becoming better. At the last day of IC they told us in the closing plenary that one of the study tours was cancelled because of to few interest. We should contact the responsible to get more information. ..... I would smile about it if I could. Not knowing if my tour will take place or not, I was looking for that person for 2 hours, running around like crazy. When I finally found him, he told me that both study tours were cancelled. Instead he wanted me to go to another study tour (which would have lasted from the 01.09. - 02.09.). Well, that didn't suit me at all. I had already booked my youth hostel from 01.09. - 04.09. and didn't want to loose one of those days that I was paying for. In addition: I didn't have a bed for the 31.08.!!! And what finally made me decide against it was that the only objective of the tour was to party around the Black Sea. Guess what: I had 10 days/nights of party at IC, wanted to relax and then they wanted me to go on a 2 days part while I wanted to do some sight-seeing.

Well, so what. I decided not to go to any study tour but to join the rest of the Austrian delegation in Istanbul (what I would have done anyway but not before the 2nd of September). I was lucky to find a youth hostel that had still a room free (while many were already packed with AIESECers :-) and we had a nice time in Istanbul. As I already knew all the sights from my last year's trip to Istanbul, I kind of acted as the guide, explaining some things ...

Today is my last day in Turkey, my plane will leave at 17h15 and I'm already looking forward going back to Austria. Peter left 2 days ago, Matthias left yesterday, so today it's just Vlad, Bene and me who are left. As said before I'm looking forward going back to Austria. What I really missed here was orange juice. Normally I have orange juice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Over here, only water or black tea was served. Damned... I can't stand water. It just doesn't have any taste *g*

Looking forward to see all of you asap.
